Newly installed US Ambassador to The OECS and Barbados Larry Palmer is in Grenada and will make the presentation on behalf of the US government.

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, in an acquaintance meeting with ambassador Palmer earlier this week, said he is happy for the donation from the US government, adding that it will help to “reduce our vulnerability to breaches in our maritime security, as well as support search and rescue missions, especially where our fishermen are concerned”.

The two boats are being given under the US Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), which was set up to jointly combat the drug trade and other transnational crimes that threaten regional security.©
