Regional airline LIAT has estimated the insured losses from the recent fire at their hangar at the V. C. Bird International Airport at EC$ 35 million (US$12.96).The fire which occurred on Sunday night, destroyed the hangar, two office buildings and one Dash 8–300 aircraft (V2 LGH).

Law and Fire Enforcement in Antigua have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
In the meantime LIAT has said it’s operations in all of its offices across the region including at the V. C. Bird International Airport continue to operate unaffected by the fire.
Earlier in the week Antiguan Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer was given a tour of the facilities and saw firsthand the destruction.©
