Youth parliament goes to the north of the island

Grenada’s northern parish, St.Patrick will host the first in  a series of youth parliament sittings this year.

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment says the first sitting will take place on Wednesday at the St. Patrick Catholic School from half past three in the afternoon.

Youth parliament is seen as a chance for young people to experience and participate in the parliamentary process.

A ministry statement says it’s using the youth parliament to create avenues where young people can air their views, raise concerns and ultimately influence the national decision-making process.

Five youth parliament sittings will be held this year, at different venues across the island culminating in the National Youth Parliament sitting, which is usually held in the Parliament, currently housed at the Grenada Trade Centre.©
