Man-hunt launched for escaped prisoner

Jexie Anthony Gibbs wanted by police

Police in Grenada have launched an island-wide manhunt for an escaped prisoner whom they say is dangerous and could be armed.

A police statement issued on Monday afternoon said that Jexie Anthony Gibbs escaped police custody just before midday during a routine hospital visit.

Gibbs was serving a 3-year prison sentence for dangerous harm and was also waiting trial for possession of ammunition.

During a previous stint at Her Majesty’s Prison in 2009 for inability to pay court fines of EC$91,000.00, Gibbs was discovered to be the mastermind of a ‘escort service’ managing 20-young women to provide among other things sexual services to men.

The 28-year old was said to be managing the “Spice Isle Escort Service” using a mobile phone allegedly provided to him by his brother.

Gibbs has had past scrapes with law-enforcement including Police in St. Vincent who arrested him in December 2008 for operating as a ‘pimp’ at  a hotel there.

He was said to be in St. Vincent at the time to serve as a ‘hit-man’ in order to make money to pay his court fines.©
