Best was appointed to the post at the 10th annual General Meeting of the ACM held in Roseau, Dominica on Wednesday.
Best, whose work has covered radio, television and newspaper, was appointed as Secretary of the Media Workers Association (MWAG) at its annual General Meeting earlier this year.
Trinidadian journalist Wesley Gibbings was returned as President of ACM while St. Lucian journalist Peter Richard was elected to serve again for another term as 1st Vice President.
Other executive members are Byron Buckley of Jamaica 2nd, Vice President; Clive Bacchus of St. Kitts, Assistant General Secretary. The floor members are Jewel Forde of Barbados and Bert Wilkinson of Guyana.

Standing: Clive Bacchus, Byron Buckley, Bert Wilkinson, Peter Richards. Sitting: Jewel Forde, Wesley Gibbings, Nicole Best
Best’s election to the ACM position comes as the body plots new strategies aimed at raising the profile of the profession in the region.
Measures agreed upon during Wednesday’s ACM meeting included a plan to follow set protocols for responding to threats to press freedom in the region.
ACM will play host to a global media conference in Trinidad next year where the well known journalist Christiane Amanpour is expected to deliver the feature address.
I can’t believe you got that. Congratulations.
